Right now the user count Lemmys is comparatively tiny when held up against reddit - but the user count isn’t the thing that makes a social media site, it’s the engagement
So even if you’re used to lurking, try to get a little more active! Post memes, vote on posts, talk in the comments, whatever!
If people come here and see activity, content, and discussions, they’re more likely to stay and contribute their own - if they come and see a ghost town, they’ll just go back to reddit
Made an account 22 hours ago, been lurking around here and there, finally decided to post my first comment after reading this post. I’d like to get more involved, just trying to find my footing first. Speaking of - what app(s) is everyone using? I’m on Android, and just logged into Jerboa. Decent UI, not a fan of the flashing screen during transitions. Any recommendations on other apps? Thanks.
I’m using Firefox on mobile. A dedicated app would be cool but the web experience is really nice, much better than reddit’s mobile site.
Im too using Firefox (on iOS). Even if it’s not comparable to a native app, it’s quite nice.
The Jerboa app seams to be in active developement. So i am optimistic for various improvements shall arrive in the future. You can observe it on their GitHub page.
The mobile web UI is very nice, the native dark mode in samsung internet looks great on here too. Feels almost like a native app.
I’m also using the mobile site and it’s been pretty good so far. More than enough to browse around and interact.
On Jerboa as well. Had downloaded lemmur before but that app seems dead. Have you set your phone on dark mode? I don’t have those same issues you’re having regarding transitions.
I’m trying to spread the word about the progressive web app as another option. It gives you the same functionality as you would have on a web browser.
In Chrome, login to whatever Lemmy instance you’re registered with, click the triple dot menu, and click “install app”. You’ll get a “Lemmy” app downloaded and added to your homescreen that looks and functions just like the website.
Welcome here!
