My computer is set to 1. Warn me at 9.25 to accept or cancel suspension at 9.30. 2. Set volume to 10% and suspend at 9.30 (just in case it gets woken up, I once woke it up at 4am and had a radio application wake up the family). 3. RTC Wake set to 5.59 4. 6.25am my wakeup music plays.
I have suspend, also hybrid - where it will suspend, and after a certain time (useful for laptops, mine’s set for 12 hours so I never hit this unless I go on holiday) it’ll hibernate.

I was under the impression that ALL websites are basically a kind of webapp. Some (like Lazada) are what you’d call ‘Progressive Web Applications’.
I use Webapp-Manager on Linux, which will set up a shortcut to launch any website/url as a Webapp… at the time of creation, you can choose Firefox or some other browser as the backend (works well for sites that dont work in Firefox).
So for me, the BBC Radio website is a webapp, Overseerr and Sonarr are webapps too.
There are a couple of things here… firstly you’re thinking about him being with someone else - that’s not just a ‘breakup’, that’s worse.
Anyway, I found relaxing to be difficult so I went out and did stuff - also I just met lots of friends and tried not to be on my own. During my last breakup, I had someone to meet every day after work for a week - and that put some distance which made it easier.
Pretty sure only the filesystem will change - so if you are synchronised as a backup, just zip up that folder and pull out what you need for the new install. I had no issues re-installing with BTRFS from ext4 and restoring a backup file a few months back.
Also, I’d say definitely stop using these for passwords, if you use Bitwarden or something similar then you can have the same stuff for your phones/tablets/computers everywhere that don’t rely on local files.
If I start a session somewhere outside my home environment, I can pull up Bitwarden and log in with no issues - nothing saved to the browser and no conflicts between phone/desktop etc (e.g. icloud passwords clashing with ones I use on my desktop - I use Bitwarden on an iphone too).
That all depends on how, and the context in which it’s done. My first girlfriend would spend hours tickling my back in between sessions - I never forgot those sunny days.
Now with more aggressive tickling - it is akin to a violent attack, and my father used to tickle me until I couldn’t stand it, and then push some more. Often it ended with me in tears… so with my son, sometimes I’ll grab a foot and start tickling it like mad - but I have a MUCH shorter cutoff time so that it ends with him laughing.
So it’s not simple - but consent is a huge issue.
Alternatives to Google, to YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Messenger, alternatives to Chromium/Chrome browsers - these are important things to be aware of.
SearXNG has search handled for me - scraping Bing and Google amongst others (and often I see Google results are low down on my list).
Not really - as the weeks and months go by, people will gravitate… and individual groups can update their names/descriptions if they become aware of a similar instance.
RSS is one of the oldest protocols existing. Basically it’s like a feed with links to things posted…
I’d suggest you start with Feedly or Inoreader, make an account and take a look.
For me, it means that I can see notifications (Inoreader) telling me how many unread items have occurred across the 79 websites I added as feeds.
I have a folder for ‘Fediverse’ with feeds like Lemmy - ukraine (also Reddit’s r/ukraine).
I have a ‘Linux’ folder, containing a few interesting blogs - like Niccolo’s KDE developer blog, a few news sites, plus announcements from my OS forum.
I have a ‘News’ folder with various sources (one is a journalist I know with a Facebook page - as I don’t use Facebook).
I have a ‘Video’ folder
I have a ‘Time Waster’ folder which has things like Digg, WindowSwap, Drive & Listen
Basically, any time you make an account and request updates from a website, the same can be done with NO account and simply copying the RSS link.
It gives you updates on things you don’t need to bother bookmarking or opening to follow.
Well there’s the rub. I added the RSS a day or two ago, I saw that post. The post is from a lemmy.world account on Beehaw - I think it should be trivial to open it and interact.
If I look at the similar Lemmy feed, I don’t see it - and I can’t find it in a search - it’s kind of ‘walled off’ to me.
Beehaw and Lemmy.World don’t have the same headers.

Some folks are busy setting up subs here - it’ll be interesting to see if we can get subs with both direct posts as well as direct feeds from Reddit too (I get 99% of Reddit via RSS).

I added the Firefox extension, so if I visit Youtube - for example (open this in a PRIVATE window, not logged in) Insights from Ukraine and Russia then I can Easily add the RSS by searching in Inoreader.

The beauty being that you can quickly go through all this stuff - great keyboard accessibility (90% covered with Shift J-K to go to the next/previous feed, Shift-X to toggle expansion of the folder, J - K to go (and mark read) the next/previous item (but you can ALWAYS view all articles in a thread)… all without visiting the sites.
Feedly and Inoreader are both awesome - and you can (and should regularly) export a list of your feeds as a backup/migration strategy.

Well, despite the difficulties translating to Federated platforms, I will certainly be working on alternative social platforms.
I no longer use Quora or Facebook…
I unsubscribed my ‘YouTube’ channels and added them as RSS feeds, so there’s no need for me to be signed in there to consume content from creators I follow.
I hope that a month or two with the Fediverse will allow me to understand it better. I’m sure that many Fediverse users will also remain on Reddit and be able to advise folks on what to do.
If anyone on, for example, r/firefox announced activity over here, I’d follow them here. So whatever the ‘bots’ say, I know what’s occurring in my corner.
Is this thread intended for 1. Android/mobile users 2. iOS/mobile users 3. People with computers/mouse/keyboard or what? It seems most Lemmy threads are pretty exclusively aimed at mobile users.
