For years, us, Canadians went to USA for shopping. Next year with the exchange rate at the highest for US$, and Canada without tariff, a shit load of americans will come to Canada to buy their electronics and stuff.

I have tested multiple distro, in the beginning was mostly hack of multiple things and almost LFS, downloading floppies images from usenet… I then started to use Debian early 00, then used Ubuntu for years, but I don’t like snap/flatpak and lots of changes Ubuntu made so I switched to Mint Cinnamon, but hated it, often broken, glitches, etc, so I switched to MX because it is Debian based, always up to date (like latest FF and latest Xserver with last night CVE fix etc and always native .deb, no snap/flat). I also always loved minimal DE so Xfce is perfect and light. Also I mainly develop in Linux, no games.
I’m old, I come from old X11R4 time, motif, mwm, twm, fvwm, things from previous century. In modern Linux I used mostly gnome, and Cinnamon for a few years and tried to love it but cannot, I finally went back to Xfce because it works, it’s simple, neat, nice, I have no icon on my desktop, I have a kind of windows 3 setup: a startup menu (and some quick launches), the window bar, the notification area with time etc

I highly doubt it, seriously, I don’t think they test update some VMs and say “that’s good”, there’s thousands and thousands people working at MS, I don’t know how many on win11 but certainly a few hundreds, I doubt none of them install the upgrade on real hardware to test.
mainly wrong, by default kill send a SIGTERM, you can try SIGINT or SIGQUIT too, and in the end SIGKILL of course. Same in windows there is different way
I know it’s not a hardware compatibility problem. People just don’t want ads/tracking/AI bullshit, a removed control panel, settings that are hard to find/hidden, etc.
All intel processor 8th gen+ (and even some 7th gen IIRC) are win11 compatible, motherboard have TPM2 for years, even my intel 6th gen MB have TPM2.0.
Next year the intel 8th gen will have 8 years, people have PC/laptop more recent than that. Problem is that win10 will not get security updates and all.

Same. Got burned with a Roku, then a tv with Yahoo! TV.
Now I have a Hisense with google TV, it’s not bad, no ads, apps like Netflix and Disney+ are in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

About happening for years in Japan IIRC, but in a good way, especially with physically handicape people, they control robots to take order and serve dishes etc in restaurant. It allows people to work, be busy, earn money, etc.
yes because at the time they didn’t know what to do, and gave .su to the .ru guys. For .yu it was also a little bit messy with multiple new countries wanting to control it. This is when IANA made laws to properly handle end of ccTLD like this, .yu does not exist anymore, it will be the same for .io
Yes, there is laws, IANA says that ideally in 3-5 years all the .io will be gone, like the .yu ones, they do not exist anymore.
In a way, I understand, .yu was removed years ago for instance. Here it is because .io is pretty special for geek and all

But working with embedded stuff, sometimes MCU with like 8MB embedded flash, have a 512k uboot, 1.5MB kernel, you are left with 6MB of flash for the whole application and lib, and busybox is a savior here!

I had a Samsung colour laser printer, they provided driver for linux, I installed them, everything works, full support for settings etc
on most new laptops, you cannot remove the battery that easily, you have to disassemble the back cover ☹️
