Any Prime Directive was broken a long time ago when a stargate was plopped down on the planet and someone using it claimed themselves as gods. SG-1 shouldn’t even be wandering around if anyone was adhering to rules from the beginning.

I would never say it out loud, but any time I hear a kid throwing their temper tantrum in public, in my head I want to tell them “just wait, it gets worse.”

I call them ignorant voters, even the really stupid ones. They are a product of decades of GOP manipulation. But why can’t it be both them and a party that is totally clueless of what needs to change to reach people. The combination is exactly what you get, people who aren’t aware of reality and are just going towards the only party that is saying exactly what they want to hear (true or not).

Yep, and the important thing about keeping a Democrat governor is their veto power against one of the worst state congresses ever. I actually haven’t looked into what changed at that level, but I don’t have much hope that the GOP stranglehold was broken.

My default now is to assume it’s real. Haven’t been wrong lately.

Why didn’t they just make one Clear and make another Backspace? The concept of erasing the last character had been in typewriters for a while by then, and this is far more obvious. Maybe erasing a single digit in earlier software/hardware was much harder than just clearing it all?

A quote attributed to a few people, Heinlein and Pournelle for two, “If you can get your ship into orbit, you’re halfway to anywhere.” Both space and planets have shared and their separate problems to solve. In my head I prefer the image of most populations moving into habitats in space, customized to their preferences, with smaller settlements on various bodies for their own purposes. In my realistic view I don’t see us getting that far before we get bogged down with all the problems we’ve created on this planet. The window to a permanent space civilization might have already shut. A sad thing, as a 70s kid I grew up convinced we were full speed into some version of what scifi had sold to me.
