This was our company too. They struck some sort of deal with chat gpt that we use their base code, but aren’t connected to their machine learning. Feels like a pretty reasonable approach in my opinion.

So our training was, “use ours. Don’t use anyone else’s because we don’t want our proprietary information out there to never be able to be scrubbed from the internet”

This is a lesson I try to teach my kids every day. When they get upset they can’t do something, I ask, “well whatd you learn?” And sometimes it’s as simple as “that didn’t work.” Other times they think for a second they try something new.

Failure is a learning opportunity. Take advantage if it.

  • Thats just the difference between a good engineer and a bad engineer. A good engineer designs things around how others are going to use them, and the design with tolerance. They would have known you use 50kg bags, and realized that’s what you’re going to do.

In my field, we know people are gonna put things together with a hammer if it’s too tight, so if it’s intentionally a tight fit, we make it so there’s no room to swing a hammer

Some office work too though. If you want to actually win the contracts, you gotta go fast. Granted, it’s not fast all the time, and we can plan when those contracta sprints are coming, to an extent, but I would definitely describe my office job as fast paced.

Not to mention when the customer changes the statement of work you’re bidding on…

As a dad of two girls, these jokes exist in a lot of kids stuff. Part of what makes it funny is you’re not expecting it, so it catches you completely off guard. Then you laugh out loud and you kids either laugh too because they think there was something funny to laugh at, or they just look at you like you’ve got 2 heads. Both responses only make it funnier to me
