  • I was just trying to be helpful. Some people might not know you can connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the device.

I don’t know of any system that does a better job of typing with a controller than the Steam Deck with the touch pads. Granted, I’m not a console gamer so I have no idea what typing on the current gen Xbox or PlayStation is like, but I can’t imagine it’s better than the Steam Deck.

  • I worked for several years in IT fields from help desk to sysadmin. I’m now a Sr. Software Engineer.

I somewhat disagree. With containerization like Docker our system is pretty simple. However, there are lot more bootcamp developers that learned to code in 12 weeks which are going to know a lot less than those with a Bachelors or higher in the field.

  • Rust is a very good language but is relatively new on the scene so it has to compete against other languages that fit the same niche(primarily C++) that have been around a lot longer.

Rust has been very popular for hobby projects for a while but it’s still pretty rare to see it for larger projects, and you still almost never see it for enterprise projects. So it’s cool seeing an app that uses it blow up.

  • Bored with the feeling of nothing to play.

I finished TotK, as in finished all of the shrines. I was planning a pokemon fan game on my steam deck for about a week but finished that too. I was playing Melvoe Idle on my phone for the last 6+ months but just 100% it.

I feel like I am growing out of video games a bit. Work and young kids make it hard to put energy in a game unless I’m really into it.

  • Windows 11 for work, though I am getting a MacBook shortly. At home, I guess SteamOS? I have two young kids so I don’t get a lot of time to do much on my computer besides play games. If I ever need a desktop environment and don’t want to use my work laptop then I use my Steam Deck and load into the desktop. Previously I was using Fedora.
