  • As a one time noob I may have done this once or more.

    To get one thing working I borked everything.

    Understanding permissions is pretty basic. But understanding permission requirements for system and user apps and their config and dirs can be a bit overwhelming at first.

    Thinking a little change to make your life simpler will break something else doesn’t always register immediately.

    Shit, even recently, wondering why my SSH keys were being refused and realising that somehow i set my private keys world readable.

    Thank god SSH checks file and dir permission.

  • No problem.

    The only reason i know this is because systemd throws degraded warnings because fwupd keeps failing. On several machines. (Because DNS, proxies, VPN, etc.)

    In xfce there’s a panel tool called genmon I use.

    I have 2 specifically for monitoring systemd status

    First is just the status

    systemctl is-system-running

    The other lists the failed units using a script

    #!/bin/sh
    failedd (){ systemctl --failed | grep -o -E "●.{0,35}\<failed" 2>/dev/null }
    echo $(failedd)

    Mint cinnamon has a similar “spice” (panel plugin) that I also use.

  • Funny thing… I had the original green jello album (before they got sued and had to change to green jelly).

    It was my first CD.

    Awesome weird brutal sounds. Loved it. No clue who the members were. Listened

    One day I was walking through the record store and saw these eyes. These fucking fucked up acid dream demon eyes.

    I bought the album.

    Fucking opiate.

    Fucking Maynard was on the green jello album. (The high pitched voice on 3 little pigs)

    Anyway, I still listen to tool. Not so such green jello.
