Mint was my first distro. My interest begun with LibreOffice, then W10 got unusable for me and rest is history.
I distrohopped a year ago but returned to Mint
Just try few of these from live usb and pick what you like.
You can use Ventoy and just drag all your ISO images to it but creating few USBs is easiest option for beginners.
There is nothing bad about Debian/Debian based distros and I think that it is great option I started on Mint, tryed Manjaro and get back to Mint.
I use mint and it is great choice, I am not so techy and it just works on this machine.
I have similar machine, but I run Linux, and don’t have these problems. Not exactly configured just some profiles for different use cases.
It was eye-opening how it got faster and snappier after getting rid of windows. Most apps don’t need tinkering, just installing from repo for me.
Czech maps from Seznam, I talked with marketing boss (don’t know his exact position but it is high) and he told me that they don’t make money from it.
If any one is interested mapy.cz it is must have app for travel in Czech.
If you want it only for SMS and calls buy some dumb brick. But if you need more things from it I can’t help you I am dissatisfied with most phones but now I have second hand FP 3 and it is enough for me.
If you want it only for testing, breaking things… Buy some POS office PC, lot of companies is always getting rid of these.
I am not self hosting, but I will probably buy few of these from my work and try it (at least it’s my plan).
I love Flatout soundtrack - wreck cars and listen to Symphony of destruction and other songs.

Can confirm, I replaced bunch of useless cloud crap on my mum’s phone with simple tools and she likes it. I use them too.

This gets little in depth on this issues.
This is already cross post. It was posted somewhere few days ago.
I use KISS but it is little bit learning curve.
It depends on mods. My 4gb ram and HDD on old laptop (win10 too heavy) was more than enough for some games.
It runs on phones too so not intensive. You can host your server on another machine and client side is pretty light weight.
If you want try Minetest - opensource “Minecraft” clone.
You need mods it is more game engin to build mods on so lots of Minecraft like games.
RedReader have long term plan to be multipurpose app for forums. Dev mentioned specifically Lemmy, Tildes and RSS support in future.
For me it is usable with few hurdles. But I like it so far.
For me (coming from RedReader) little bit unintuitive UI, but now it makes more sense to me after few days.
Linking communitys - why it opens browser of the instance with the community instead of opening in app.
I miss nice to have features like opening thread of my comment not whole thread and then find where is my comment, browsing whole instances …
But I maybe didn’t find these settings yet, people linking communities badly …
All in all experience is good I can comment/post on different instances seamlessly, browsing is good. It only needs few missing features and some fixes.
Few political not answers, some f-you answers, personal attack to Christian.
I would say that PR was disastrous, people rage that he wasn’t prepared for obvious questions and 0 informational value of this AMA.
Planned obsolescence was first introduced for lightbulb, according to Veritasium video on YT. But for most things it is relatively new thing (20 years).
