      • Drag queens reenacted a painting of a Greek scene at the Olympic opening ceremonies.

      • Christians naturally thought it was about them and started crying persecution, other bigots took advantage of the fray to attack the LGBT community.

      • The world rejoices at another opportunity to mock the latter into oblivion.

      TLDR; The usual

There’s serious “this photo of a buff woman completely derailed a podcast about the state of the white man for three episodes” energy around this image

the problem we (although i can only speak for myself) have is that this is not appropriate for kids. i don’t have any problem with what people do in private, but this being broadcast to the whole world with no age restriction is the problem.

What exactly is a child seeing that is inappropriate? It’s a bunch of people dressed funny. They aren’t blowing each other on the runway.

His parts are covered. Even so, what is the issue with nudity? This is a global event, in many parts of the world people are not as prude as occidentals. Some go naked to public baths, or beaches.

I assume you feel the same way about straight couples holding hands at the park because that being broadcast to the whole world with no age restriction is the problem.

That’s a hole in his costume, not his balls hanging out. The closeup shot shows the hole. Watch the video and you’ll see it. No one was showing off their junk.

I mean seriously! I can’t really understand why people must have such polarized and toxic reaction over some art performance. I get that this may not be for everyone, but just like the movies series before had mixed reaction, this live action Smurf Musical will find his fan base in time…

    btw. what aboth dionysus?

To be fair, it was about the bigots too. I had to look up the song after a certain group blew up about it. It’s a lovely song about inclusivity and what it might take for us to stop fighting eachother.

This was a horrible waste of money and time, and only really produced something that I can only describe as disgusting. Someone who recognises that doesn’t automatically become a bigot.

Well your problem here is you’re conflating opinion with fact.

      You didn’t “recognise” shit.

I apologise if my opinion here (this ceremony being ‘disgusting’) came across as me finding it to be fact, because I didn’t. My opinion here is one I consider sensible, and as such would find anyone disagreeing insane.

        Perhaps you took this:

This was a horrible waste of money and time

Out of the context of being an opinion formed by me?

Legitimately curious here, what did you find disgusting? The message of the song, the callback to classical art and religion, performers in costume, or something else?

Ok, and to clarify, do you mean disgusting as in the opposite of attractive, or that you feel an internal wrongness when looking? I’m guessing it’s something way beyond either, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense to find others “insane” for liking the performance.

While I may agree with the waste of time and money, I see the whole thing of Olympics a waste of time and money but if people want to have some fun who am I to stop them. People find your use of the word disgusting well disgusting and that you recognize it as so even more intolerant. Maybe even bigoted? Also the whole thing from what I see falls under ART. While you may find it disgusting others my find it lovely, fun, and entertaining, I did. While you can have your opinions I hope you don’t stop people from having fun when you disagree with them. Have a wonderful day!

You decided something informed by the insecurities and beliefs you were raised with. You’re a slave to the world around you and you think you had an original thought. Pathetic.

think you had an original thought

Much to the contrary. My thought is anything but original, and I’m far happier for it.

Additionally, being informed by the ‘insecurities and beliefs’ (as you say) one is raised with hardly makes one a slave to the world providing these ‘insecurities and beliefs’ - I would think that learning from lessons told is much smarter than trying to come up with stupid original thoughts.

Additionally, could you elaborate on what you mean by ‘insecurities’?
