It did not make me trans.

However, it did give me heartache or something, so I try to avoid energy drinks nowadays.

I still go for a Monster every now and then when I’m feeling spicy, but I cut back on my energy drinks when I was trying to write something at work and was struggling because I was shaking from a Rockstar Energy drink. That shit tastes like poison and the only reason I had so many that I was drinking them regularly was Halo Infinite cosmetics.

They’re a fun “sip this to keep from passing out once in a while” sort of drink but energy drinks are absolutely terrible.

Don’t let brands artificially stake themselves to your identity. Organic memes don’t build demographic brand associations; be very wary of insidious shit like this

While i fundamentally agree with the negative impact of brands and associations, monster has become a part of transfem meme culture and the company itself has donated to multiple LGBTQ+ organisations such as the It Gets Better project and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.

I’ll admit I’m not familiar enough with the company to know the answer to this, but here’s my question: how is Monster as an employer? What’s their track record on workers rights and fair treatment? I don’t think we should be so excited to embrace a company that makes positive gestures that we end up ignoring the moral failings and compromises of said company.

This is why things get messy quickly with companies; if we associate with them for their good works on LGBTQ issues, are we then culpable for their failures on workers issues?

And to be clear, I don’t have the answer; I’m genuinely pondering what’s the right answer, because it’s not obvious to me. I just know the inherent dangers of corporations makes me hesitant to accept their support unwaveringly 🤷

I doubt Monster likes us enough to make/encourage these memes. Look how many viral moments they could have had that they didn’t play into as a brand. Could be that I am unaware.

There’s a reason why Red Bull comes in small cans. Monster Energy: “We we’re going, we don’t need reason”

I’ll take a good old Yerba any day over one of these abominations. If you genuinely think it tastes good, I weep for your tastebuds, because they have given up the ghost long ago.

I don’t usually drink it but I got the new (or so I think) Mango one and honestly it was pretty good.

It’s gotta taste better than kombucha I guess lmao, and I drink that shit, so I don’t have much room to talk.

I’ve always hated the smell and taste of most energy drinks. Someone can have one at the other end of the train carriage in the morning and it ruins my commute.

The amount I like the smell or taste of energy drinks is inversely correlated to the health of my diet. The healthier I get, the more stuff like that puts me off, to the point where it kinda makes me nauseated smelling them these days, so I feel you there.

On the topic energy drinks… How about Alani? Some are straight up candy flavored(cosmic stardust=mouthful of skittles), but Hawaiian Shaved Ice is my jam!

I’m still a fan of the black and blue Low-Cal/Low-Carb, but you’re lucky to find one in a hundred facings these days. The odd gas station might carry one.
